Well first off we wouldn't really have much of a story if Anthony had commited suicide.
Some of the reasons he contamplated suicide are; his relationships, boredom, and drill instructors.
First off Anthony has major relationship issues.
-He thinks his girlfriend is cheating on him, but at the same time he is cheating on her. He is not sure she is cheating on him but he assumes she is because he is over seas.
-He was bored all the time and that made him think deeply about everything that was wrong in his life. Although he was trained he never got his chance to really be a part of the war and that saddened him. This was the case for many of the other soldiers in his platoon. The main reason he was so bored was, there was nothing for him to do so he wondered what his purpose there was. Also he figured he would die in battle anyway if givin the chance to fight. Another reason he was so upset was he was a grunt and that made him very replaceable.
-Lastly drill instructors made him mad because they swore at him and talked about his mama. Obviously that makes him upset enough to want to kill himself
